Why do thousands of young people converge on a Balkan village every August?
We’re looking for people aged 18 to 30 to accompany our film crew.
After Apparition Hill comes CROSS MOUNTAIN…
This summer, we’re bringing a group of people to investigate Medjugorje as part of our upcoming film Apparition Hill. People were invited to enter the contest for a chance to win one of five free trips to Medjugorje, and you can follow that journey here.
Our crew was so overwhelmed by the heartfelt stories in the entries that we decided to bring a second group, but this time with a different mission: to take part in Medjugorje’s Youth Fest. Every year, during the first week of August, young people from all over the world converge on the tiny village of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Why do they come? And what are they looking for? Our crew hopes to find out by bringing a group of young people to investigate.
So, just like the last contest, we’re giving away five all-expenses-paid trips to Medjugorje. If you’re between 18 and 30 years old and you have never been to Medjugorje before, please submit a video entry.
There’s no cost to enter. Just submit a video telling us about yourself and your reasons for wanting to go. The people we choose will get to globe-trot for free and appear in a feature-length documentary headed to theaters.
We will choose up to five people to accompany our film crew on an all-expenses-paid European trip to take part in the Youth Fest in Medjugorje as part of our investigation.
Be open and honest about yourself. Tell us why you want to go on the trip, even if it’s just for a free trip to Europe! If there are personal things you don’t want to share in the video, feel free to make a basic video introducing yourself and then send us a message through our contact page. We will keep it private.
The contest is open to any person between the ages of 18 and 30 who has never been to Medjugorje before. We want a good mix of skeptics and believers, and all are welcome to enter, including:
- Atheists and Agnostics
- Fallen-away Catholics or former Catholics
- Faithful Catholics and Priests or Nuns, or anyone discerning a vocation
- Non-Catholics (Christian or otherwise)
- People struggling with illness
- People suffering from the death of a loved one
- Addicts and alcoholics
- Anyone struggling with life’s big questions
Contestants are allowed one video entry.
Entrants to the Apparition Hill contest are automatically entered to the Cross Mountain contest if they fit the criteria of being between 18 and 30 years old.
Contestants who enter should try to get as many Facebook “Likes” for the video entries as possible. The number of Facebook “Likes” will be considered by the committee as one of many deciding factors.
Videos must be no shorter than 30 seconds and no longer than 4 minutes. We highly recommend that videos are of the actual nominees so that we (and the world) can see and hear from them. Unlike the last contest, you can only make a video for yourself and not to nominate another person. If you know someone who wants to go on the trip, please urge them to make a video or help them make one.
If you are unable to create a short video with a video camera or mobile device such as a cellphone, please find a friend who can make one for you.
Be sure that your video is set to Public or Unlisted in YouTube; otherwise, if set to Private, only you can view it.
Each winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to be featured in the film, which will chronicle a journey based on the following itinerary:
The travel dates will take place over an 8 day period, tentatively July 31 to August 7, 2015 (subject to change). Please only enter if you can travel during that time. The itinerary includes travel in and around Eastern Europe and will include physical exertion in the form of walking or hiking and visiting various traditional tourist destinations as well as “non-traditional tourist destinations” such as humanitarian missions.
A signed release form will be required for each participant.
Prize includes airline tickets (round-trip); hotel accommodations, including a stay on the Adriatic coast of Croatia (per availability); ground transportation; breakfast and dinners daily, and some incidentals (where applicable).
All participants consent to traveling with the group at all times in accordance with the above itinerary, which remains subject to change without notice. Contestants, if chosen, understand that each participant’s voice, name, and image will be recorded (such recordings will become the property of Sean Bloomfield Productions). Participants will not be compensated monetarily.
Restrictions and blackout dates apply. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable. Participants must have a passport valid for travel dates. Open to anyone from any country as long as they are permitted to travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and other cities as determined by the final itinerary. Round-trip airfare will be covered for participants traveling from the USA and from countries within Europe, and up to $2,000 for participants traveling from other countries.
Participants will be loaned a small camcorder, and they will be required to record a video diary every day which may or may not be used in the film; the production company has the right to use all recorded “diary cam” footage.
Prizes are for airline tickets, accommodations, transfers, ground transportation and two meals per day, and do not include other luxuries or services.
Prize is valid only for above in connection with participation in the trip’s itinerary.
The committee reserves the right to make the final selections.
Submitting a video to enter the contest freely authorizes use of the video, including voice, name, and image, to be used without restraint by Sean Bloomfield Productions to utilize the Released Subject Matter in connection with the Contest’s advertising and the film’s final content, publicity, public displays, and exhibitions.
These rules are subject to change without prior notice.
